Interestingly enough, there are no actual restrictions on thisRule 2. The04.01 of the ITTF rules simply state:and regulations states

The racket may be of any size, shape or weight but the blade shall be flat and rigid

So as long it doesn't overlap enough to be flappy, it can still be rigid. A minor overlap is not going to flap.
